Top 5 Tips To Remember When Shopping for Mens Shoes

Most men dread any kind of shopping experience and will do just about anything to either get out of it or to make it end as quickly as possible.  If you tell a man that he needs to go shopping for a pair of shoes and you will almost have to promise the world to get him to go.  Here are five very important tips to remember when shopping for comfortable mens shoes.

1.  Shop at the right time.

Surprisingly, there is a better time to shop for shoes and that would be later in the afternoon.  It is as simple as this: the more you walk around, the more your feet will swell.  If you buy shoes early during the day, you might purchase a size too small and they will be very uncomfortable later in the afternoon.

2.  Bring your own gear.

Don’t get scared.  This simply means you should bring your own socks when you are looking for comfortable mens shoes.  Most shoe stores will keep a basket of “test socks” for you to use, but remember that the thickness of your own socks will differ from the test socks.  Also, how many other people have put their sweaty, swollen feet in those socks before you?

3.  Take them for a test “walk.”

You are already shopping, you might as well make the most of your experience and actually take a test walk in your potential shoes.  You need to try both pairs on and lace them up as if you were going to wear the shoes home.  Take a walk down a few aisles of the store, bend down to pick something up, and maybe even turn a corner very quickly.  Don’t worry about taking a long time either, if you are feeling a little pressure from the sales person, remember that you are the one that will be wearing the shoes, not the sales person.

4.  You get what you pay for.

This bit of advice will always apply to comfortable mens shoes.  Generally, the higher priced shoes will get you a higher quality leather and will not stretch a whole lot.  A lot of people will tell you that you have to break in your shoes before they are comfortable, but this is wrong.  High quality shoes should retain their shape for a long time and not stretch out.

5.  Comfort above all else.

It’s important to have comfortable mens shoes.  Even if you will only wear your shoes for a little while, you need to have good supporting shoes.  Uncomfortable shoes will cause you to walk funny and even give you bad posture.  If left alone too long, it could cause back problems and other joint issues.  Save yourself the trouble and just get good shoes.

Now, with those five tips, you should be able to keep you shopping time down to a minimum and still get what you need.
