The Frye boots company has a long, industrial history in the United States. They are oldest operated shoe company in the United States. Frye boots were founded in 1863 by John A. Frye. He was a prominent English shoemaker who ran the business for nearly 50 years, until his death in 1911. After which time, his family ran the business until 1945.
Frye cowboy boots started gaining popularity during the Civil War with both the Union and Confederate soldiers.
