Bettye Muller shoes

When it comes to style, sophistication, and flair, there is one name in footwear that exemplifies all of these and more. Bettye Muller shoes are as unique and inspired as their designer. As Muller herself says “My shoes are like Hitchcock Blondes. Like Kim Novak and Grace Kelly, they have a distinct look that is mysterious and beautiful. Each one tells a story.” Which means that her personal collection of nearly 500 vintage designer shoes must have thousands of amazing stories to tell; if only shoes could talk!

Of course, this New York native wasn’t always a connoisseur of vintage designer shoes and a professional shoe designer with her own unique collection of shoes that can be described as art. Before all of this, Muller was a competitive ice skater, an ice skating instructor, a shoe model, a soap opera actress, and a graphic designer. Fortunatley for those of us who love her shoes, these professions both gave her a unique background for shoe design, and quickly fell into the past, when she designed her first collection of Bettye Muller shoes in the 1980s, while she was living in London. And as they say, the rest is history.

Since 1998, when she moved back to New York and started her label, Muller’s shoes have been loved by thousands of women, both famous and not. Of course, women who love Bettye Muller shoes have certain things in common; because each shoe is unique and inspired, they aren’t for everyone, and women who love them are confident women with a unique sense of style and a strong sense of self. No matter these women’s tastes, there is a pair of shoes that matches her style, as the shoe designs in Muller’s collections range far and wide!

The 60 piece fall 2009 collection ranges from styles inspired by the shoes of the 1950’s, to looks reminiscent of the 1920’s, to boots that any rockabilly cowgirl would die to own. Take, for example, her Impulse boots, available in black and brown suede, and embroidered all over in floral designs. Or her Ceremony heels, inspired by traditional Mary Janes, but given a funky twist with red suede velvet, wide straps and large silver buckles.

While the styles range far and wide, they are all inspired by Muller’s own eclectic tastes and worldwide travels. Bettye Muller shoes take women to a fantasy world, where  vintage fabrics and intense colors transport you to  the markets of the Far East to the jungles of South America. With each shoe a unique, inspired creation, who knows what fabulous designs are next for Muller. But one thing is for certain, Bettye Muller’s designs will always be fun and feminine, vibrant and bold, sophisticated and stylish, and above all, incredibly unique.
